UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION PROGRAMME

The University Foundation Programme (UFP) is a one year course that provides students with additional knowledge before starting university. This opportunity is essential; with high demand for students to perform their best and competition in education rising, this course is ideal for students to be in a good frame of mind before attending university. It aims to provide upcoming students with the preparation they need to achieve top grades upon graduation. The skills they learn will aim to prepare them mentally for the challenges of University whilst giving them a qualification (RQF Level 3), also recognised as an A-level equivalent.

We offer four different pathways tailored to meet students’ academic needs including:

UFP Pathways

1. Business and Finance

Course description: This course will prepare students with internationally recognised skills, applicable to any organisation. The course itself will offer a range of modules that cover the basics for all areas of Business including Marketing, Finance and Computing. English will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects, as well as being taught separately if you need additional support to develop your English language. By the end of the course you will build analytical abilities and make strong links between the key business and economic theories and the practicalities of the real world.
Raise your professional profile through placement and internship opportunities. The course will give you the chance to broaden your outlook by giving you the opportunity to study a worldwide recognised degree.

Taught Subjects: Business Studies, Marketing, Finance, Computing, Mathematics, English

Course Length: Full time course – One Year

Teaching methods: Lectures, Seminars, Tutorials, Workshops, Field trips.

Assessment Methods: You’ll be assessed through Examination, Coursework, Essays, Presentations and Activity-Based assignments.

Destination: This course will lead you to University where you can do;
Business Studies, Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, etc.

2. Engineering & Computing

Course Description : This course will introduce you to Engineering principles and Computer Aided Design. They will also develop and demonstrate a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of Physics and develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other. You will benefit from world-class learning and experiential facilities to enable you to develop the practical skills you need to gain your dream career in the different fields of engineering and computer science.

Taught Subjects: Physics, Computing, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, English, IELTS.

Course Length: Full time course – One Yea

Teaching methods: Lectures, Seminars, Tutorials, Workshops, Trips

Assessment Methods: You’ll be assessed through Examination, Controlled Assessment

Destination: This course will lead you to University where you can do; Mechanical, Electronics, Control, Petrol, Software, Civil Engineering, Aviation, Computer Science, etc.

3. Humanities, Law & Social Sciences

This course consists of three parts – the humanities, law, and Social Science. For the humanity part, you will get to learn a lot about History, Media, and Literature. Whereas Law and Social Sciences are more related to Human Behaviour, the field of study here is Psychology, Law, Government, and Political Science of the UK.

Our foundation diploma is designed to enable you to progress to a wide range of degree courses. Students will become proficient in critical analysis, evidence gathering, and argument evaluation. They also developed an appreciation for differences in Society’s culture and human behaviour.

Taught Subjects: History, Media Studies, Computing, English, Psychology, IELTS preparation

Course Length: Full time course – One Year

Teaching methods: Lectures, Seminars, Tutorials, Workshops, Trips

Assessment Methods: You are assessed by a combination of examinations and coursework, which may include:

4. Art & Design

Course Description: The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is designed to enable you to learn through discovery and exploration by engaging with projects, lectures and study visits. The foundation course is essentially a transitional experience in art, design and communication, preparing you for a place in higher education or for employment.

The wide range of specialist options reflects the progression opportunities available at degree level within the college and the university. The foundation course’s pathway allows you to build a subject-specific portfolio in readiness for degree course applications.
