The internet is a key part of everyday life in our communities. Therefore, the aim of our e-safety area is to raise the awareness of children, young people, families, vulnerable adults and those who work with them, about e-safety issues and how to safely enjoy the internet.
North London Grammar School equips students with the knowledge and skills to navigate social media safely through a comprehensive approach grounded in education, policy, and community engagement.
The school’s E-Safety Policy outlines clear expectations for responsible digital behaviour and is supported by a formal Parent-School-Student Agreement and ICT Code of Conduct, all of which are included in the school planner and signed by students, parents, and the school. These agreements reinforce shared responsibility, accountability, and safe online conduct.
This framework is further underpinned by the school’s Safeguarding Policy, ensuring that all digital safety measures align with the broader commitment to student welfare and protection.
Through assemblies, form time activities, and the PSHE curriculum, students explore key topics such as online privacy, cyberbullying, digital footprint, and the ethical use of technology. These sessions are designed to build critical thinking, resilience, and responsible decision-making in the digital world.
The school’s Behaviour Policy reinforces respectful and safe online interactions, ensuring that any misuse of technology is addressed consistently and constructively.
To strengthen the home-school partnership, parent training sessions are offered to help families understand current online risks and how to support their children in using social media responsibly.
Together, these measures ensure that students are not only aware of the risks but are also empowered to make informed, safe, and respectful choices online.
