North London Grammar School (NLGS) students excel in the recent Senior UKMT Competition
NLGS is proud to announce that its students have achieved outstanding results in this year’s Senior UKMT Challenge, a national competition that tests mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities.
The Senior UKMT is open to students up to Year 13 and includes some A-level mathematics content. We participated with 10 students—5 from Year 10 and 5 from Year 11—and I’m proud to report that 9 of them received medals!
Our results:
Two Gold Medals
Mustafa (Y10) – invited to BMO Round 1
Yavuz (Y10) – invited to Senior Kangaroo
Three Silver Medals
Emin (Y11) – invited to Senior Kangaroo
Enis (Y11) – invited to Senior Kangaroo
Anya (Y10) – invited to Senior Kangaroo
Four Bronze Medals
Imran (Y11)
Roshni (Y11)
Neo (Y10)
Musa (Y10)
“This year has resulted in the best achievement NLGS has ever had in the Senior UKMT Mathematics Challenge.” Mr. Zerenturk, Math Teacher
This outstanding outcome is truly a reflection of the teamwork and inspiring learning environment we have all helped to build at NLGS.
It is especially promising that both Gold medallists are Year 10 boarding students, meaning they still have up to three more years to participate in this challenge. We look forward to celebrating their future successes in Year 11 and beyond.
Upcoming Rounds – Tuesday, 19th November
Mustafa Said will sit a 3.5-hour paper for British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 (BMO 1) – this marks the first-ever NLGS entry to BMO.
Yavuz, Emin, Erdogan, and Anya will sit a 1-hour paper for the Senior Kangaroo.
“It is truly admirable to see our students flourishing and realising their potential.”
Mr. Zerenturk, Math Teacher
