In January 2026 North London Grammar School had the pleasure of welcoming Mr David Pinto-Duschinsky, Member of Parliament for Hendon, who represents Hendon community in Parliament, helping to shape laws, raise local concerns, and support schools and residents with issues that affect them.
Mr Pinto-Duschinsky had the opportunity to see the school in action and spent time with our Year 9 & Y10 students, discussing the importance of engaging with politics and ensuring that young people’s voices are heard. Accompanied by Mr Adak, Headteacher, and Mrs Erdil, Senior Deputy Head, Mr Pinto-Duschinsky toured the Senior and Junior classrooms, observing lessons and engaging with teachers and students. During the visit, Mr Pinto-Duschinsky learnt about the school and our community and exciting plans for the future. One highlight of the visit was a thought-provoking talk delivered to Year 9 & Year 10 students on ‘The Importance of Engaging with Politics’. A new government policy set to take place from the next election, will allow people who are 16 years and over to vote. Mr Pinto-Duschinsky emphasised the importance of participating in democracy, with a clear message – show up and get involved in civic life – use your vote! Students also had the opportunity to ask questions, exploring what MPs do and how local government works, making the session both engaging and relevant.
