School is a preparation for life, and therefore at NLGS, we expect that the students shall take pride in themselves. We expect a high standard of personal appearance from all the students. The uniform policy helps students build their sense of loyalty, and encourages pride in their appearance.
Girls have the option of wearing school trousers or a skirt.
We do not permit individual fashion statements such as extreme hairstyles or colours, designer shirts, and decorated footwear. Shoes must have black laces and no coloured stitching. Please do not wear decorative attachments in the hair. Hairbands must be plain black or dark colour with a maximum of 50mm width. Students must not have at any time make-up and nail varnish or nail extensions.
No jewellery except for one wristwatch and a maximum of one plain (no stones) stud earring in each ear. We do not permit nose studs or any other forms of body piercing. We also do not allow accessories to be worn around the neck or attached to clothing.
All students should be properly and neatly dressed. Shirts and blouses should always be properly tucked in and boys should make sure their top shirt buttons are done up and ties tied smartly. All clothes and bags must be clearly named.
PE kit must be worn to practical PE lessons and must be worn in full.
Acceptable school shoes are plain black formal leather flat shoes. We do not permit ballet pump-style shoes, suede shoes, daps, trainers (or trainer like) and canvass shoes.
