Students who take part in Coding Club at NLGS not only strengthen their programming and problem-solving skills, but also have the chance to take part in external competitions. Two students Achal (Y9) and Ardash (Y10) entered the ISA Coding Competition on Friday 6th March.

Before joining this school, I already knew how to code, but I had taken quite a long break from it. Attending Coding Club helped me reconnect with programming and rebuild my confidence, while also developing new problem-solving and logical reasoning skills. These skills are essential not only for debugging and software development, but are also valuable in many other fields. Through the club, we also had the opportunity to enter the ISA Coding Competition, which was a great experience. It allowed us to apply what we had learned in a more challenging and competitive setting while working on real problem-solving tasks. The skills you learn in Coding Club can also be very useful when preparing for Computer Science coding exams. Our teacher is very supportive and does an excellent job of teaching complex topics to more advanced programmers while also explaining the basics clearly to those who are newer to coding. Mrs Dhrona, the Deputy Head, also inspired us by taking the time to look over our project, offering constructive feedback, and sharing how some of her own experiences could be incorporated into our work. I would strongly recommend Coding Club to anyone who is considering attending or planning to take Computer Science as a GCSE option.
