On Wednesday 11 March 2026, students took part in an engaging Animal Encounters session led by The Animal Experience, designed to spark curiosity about the natural world. Students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 participated in workshops exploring habitats, classification, and animal characteristics.
The session introduced a fascinating range of animals, including a meerkat, barn owl, python, bearded dragon, tenrec, and tortoise. Through an informative and interactive talk, Mrs Marshall encouraged students to ask questions, think critically, and deepen their understanding of each animal’s environment, behaviour, and role within classification systems.
A key highlight was the opportunity for students to handle or gently pet the animals, transforming curiosity into a hands-on learning experience. This direct interaction not only built confidence but also inspired students to observe more closely and engage more thoughtfully with the living world around them.
